Letters to the Editor

I can't help but comment on Bruce Smith's letter (January 18 2007).

I do agree with you that cooks wages-- and mechanics to name another-- should be raised, but saying that your work environment is just as dangerous is fucking retarded.

Poor muffin burned his hand. Your working in a kitchen, what do you expect?

How many cooks do you know that have died on the job? Or lost a limb? An eye maybe? Maybe you should visit a job site and see for yourself how dangerous it is.

Cooks get paid less because cooking is one of the easiest. Hell, almost everyone in the world can cook. To say that cooks should get paid on the same scale is ignorance at its best.

$30.00/hr to make creme brule? I think not sir.

And to Liz Feltham, what do you think would happen if a plumber came to your house and forgot to "tighten a wrench" on your hot water heater? What about your gas lines? Or what if a plumber didn't properly vent your sewage lines?

Isn't it just common sence to not feed someone fish when they didn't order fish, and to wash counters and utensils before they are used on something different?

Please stick to reviewing food like other food critics, and leave the soapbox at home.
