Jenny Omnichord and Wax Mannequin say bye-bye babies

Leaving their respective kiddies at home, the two indie musicians take a quick trip east--- stopping at every dollar store along the way.

Jenny Mitchell (AKA Jenny Omnichord) and Wax Mannequin have been traversing the roads from Ontario to Nova Scotia suited up in matching dinosaur hats. A love for dollar stores and their quirky gems is just one of the reasons the pair make great tour companions. "We both like injecting fun and silliness into tour adventures," says Mitchell who joins Wax for an 11-show,10-day trip. It certainly isn't the first time the two have hit the road together but this time around they can relate on a new level

---parenthood. It's Wax's first trip away from his new baby, and Mitchell's longest stint away from her toddler, who she usually brings along for the ride. "I almost feel if I took Otis on tour I'd be hoarding them all," says the soon-to-be mother of two. With a second baby due September 27 (which was also Otis' due date, and her own) she's got something special in the works. Similar to Charlotte or Otis, the album of duets released as a gift for her first baby, Mitchell is putting together a musical welcome to the world for baby number two. Ten years after releasing their first album together, Mitchell will join forces with her Barmitzvah Brothers bandmates for the celebratory recording.

Fri May 20, The Seahorse Tavern, 1663 Argyle Street, 10pm, $12/$15
