To the editor,

First, let me start by saying that I enjoy your "Love the way we bitch" column, in fact, I have even written in on occasion. It is a fantastic way to be able to blow off steam, make statements and find comrades and validation in a world that seems like "every man for himself." But, lately I've been thinking about things differently, about life differently.

Instead of having a "Love the way we bitch" column, maybe some week you could have a "Love the way we love" column. With all of the self-inflicted fear and "bad" in the world, wars on terrorism, drugs, child molesters, global warming, the race for greed and materialism, et cetera, there is happiness and "good" that people are missing. It is essential to us as humans to be aware of what's going on in our world, but we are the ones who make the choice of how we will process that information. Maybe everything could be changed? Instead of giving our attention to the negative, maybe we should try and fill our individual lives with more of the positive. Maybe if we, as a whole, started re-directing our thoughts, focusing on the good, life could become better, both individually and as a unified humanity. We won't know until we try.

I know that the "bitchers" are going to want to come after me for being so "preachy," but that's not my intention. I would like to believe that a little goes a long way, and I know that I am not alone. Instances that are said to be miracles, big and little, happen everyday. No one can explain them, they just happen and they make us feel wonderful. Even hearing about someone else's miracle makes us feel wonderful. That is why I'd like to make the suggestion of a "Love the way we love" column. I think it could be unbelievably contagious, and who wouldn't want to catch the "love fever"? It makes us feel good. I think that John Lennon said it best when he said, "All you need is Love."
