You'd think a film that starts with the violent separation of mother-fudgin' continents would have bigger stakes, but Ice Age: Continental Drift isn't concerned with challenging itself when there's so many famous people's voices around. The fourth film in the talking prehistoric mammal franchise sees mastodon Ray Romano separated from wife Queen Latifah by a pesky and sudden shift in tectonic plates. To get back to his family, he, sloth John Leguizamo and sabre-tooth tiger Denis Leary fight against pirate captain/baboon Peter Dinklage and his crew of Aziz Ansari rabbit and Jennifer Lopez tiger. Nicki Minaj and Drake also voice some things. Ice Age started out as a surprisingly sombre film series, but at this point story seems to be serving backseat to cramming in as many celebrities as possible. A 3-D The Simpsons short preceding the feature may be the only thing here worth seeing.
