HPV treatments

Past experience has shown me that fine-tip cauterization gets rid of HPV outbreaks in one or two sessions without any lasting scarring. Such quick, in-office, anesthesia-free treatments are available in Vancouver, BC but nowhere in Nova Scotia. (I've been told repeatedly it's been banned.)

People impacted by HPV need to put together info packages and send them to the Nova Scotia Department of Health ( to demand this ban be lifted. Liquid nitrogen (the current treatment) can take months to be effective.

Perhaps The Coast can do a follow-up to "Just between us," Feb. 14, to show cauterization is helpful and how well it has been received in other Canadian provinces.

If the article gets done, HPV sufferers can simply cut out the article from The Coast and send it in as part of their "patient driven" demand for better service. If enough demand is made, this much-needed service will get reinstated.
