As first impressions go, Anne Bastedo has a good one, warmly welcoming me to Viewpoint Gallery and explaining the various ongoing exhibits. It's a brightness that's easily reflected in her photography, most recently with First Impressions---Central American Light---photographic evidence of her travels through five countries and arranged by her special eye for pattern and light. From a tree's natural purples and greens in "Pastel Bark" to the primary colours of houses and churches, or everyday objects like the furniture in "3 Chairs and a Boy," Bastedo's photographs paint a picture of a different world---one of bright moments and cheerful people---dosing me with a burning sense of hot weather that's veritably warming from the inside out. I wouldn't be surprised if many a flight gets booked after viewing this exhibit.

To April 28, Viewpoint Gallery, 1272 Barrington Street, 420-0854
