It's been a voyage getting the romantic folk-pop of Inlet Sound back to Halifax. The band first played here last August, but this Thursday they'll be riding a new wave to The Company House. "This time we're getting a fair amount more buzz so we're just really excited," says vocalist and guitar player Michael Wexler. The original trio (which includes Sean Hardy and Steven Gore) has evolved with Kate MacLean and Curtis Murphy joining the band on drums and bass respectively while making The Romantics. "The amazing thing is that everything just worked and came together when the five of us started playing," says Wexler. "The songs kept their same character and had a little extra je ne sais quo." The band erupts in the background. "They're laughing because I said 'je ne sais quo.'" It's great energy and must be working, earning the band comparisons to Mumford and Sons, Great Lake Swimmers and The Decemberists but Inlet Sound can hold its own with those indie greats. They'll be debuting a new song, tentatively titled "Blizzard Baby," at the show, a new music video for "Young Hearts" has just wrapped and they're headed out west on tour this summer. Inlet Sound is just getting started---you won't want to miss it.

Thursday, Mar 14, 9pm, The Company House, 2202 Gottingen Street, $8
