Florals are forever

Erica & Kevin | Married August 3, 2012

Erica Barry and Kevin Weerahandi have an atypical boy-meets-girl story—in fact it almost sounds like an urban love myth. They met through a friend of a friend at Dalhousie University and with a little bit of (not-creepy, she swears) stalking, an “Is this a date?” dinner and four roses, four days later, their romance was the stuff of legend. Kevin proposed in White Rock, BC at the end of a pier overlooking the ocean and mountains and they carried the memory of that romantic scene to their seaside wedding at Shining Waters. “We wanted to have an outdoor ceremony because I really wanted to be married next to the ocean,” says Erica. “Some of the inspiration came from surfing photos, but the look in the end was unique to us.” The couple got married between two floral pedestals and their colour choices of black bridesmaid dresses and cream linens really let the purple and fuchsia of the flowers pop. “We envisioned a sleek, elegant design with lots of fresh flowers,” says Erica. And by planning early and hiring their wedding consultant, Susan Conrad, they escaped the usual wedding stress and were able to enjoy their perfect day, dancing off into the sunset.
