Five for fall

Food and drink blogger Kristin Innes-Kaufman from beerandbasil.com gives us a taste of what local wine will be in her glass this season.

Avondale Sky Lavender: This is a fruity rosé that goes really well with chocolate. If the thought of lavender gives you any hesitation, don't let it; you'll be pleasantly surprised by the enticing aroma and finish.

Petite Rivière Sur Lie: Somewhat of an acquired taste, Sur Lie is, in my opinion, the white wine equivalent of a "hoppy" beer. Incredibly crisp and full-bodied, this is a great long and slow sipping wine.

Benjamin Bridge Nova 7: Probably the most talked about wine this summer, and for good reason. This lovely white wine provides just the right amount of citrus and bubbles to make it a delight both on its own or paired with food.

Luckett Vineyards Helena: I dare you to try and share this, and know that you will fail and drink the entire bottle yourself. This sparking apple and blackcurrant rosé is my absolute favourite for all occasions and my go-to as a replacement for traditional champagne.

Jost Marble Mountain: As a child, Jost was a household name. The berry both in the nose and on the palate in this charming red will leave you longing for a Cape Breton summer.
