Eversion is described by the developer as "a cute platformer with a dark secret," which I would call an understatement. This is the sort of game your friend sends you a link for, and you immediately know that it's a trap of some sort. It starts out like a very Mario-esque platform game, the only difference being a lack of power ups. Instead, you have the ability to "everse," which at certain areas in the game cause enemies, background and objects to alter. The further you go, the stranger the eversions get. Even while suspecting foul play, there was a point in the game when my heart dropped and I felt very alone---a powerful emotion for a freeware 2D platformer. Once past the psychological aspects, it's a very well designed game sure to appeal to both platformer and horror fans alike.
