Dykes vs Divas

Recap of Pride's annual softball game

Whether repurposing purses as makeshift gloves or threatening opponents with hairspray, players in Sunday’s Dykes vs. Divas softball game packed each swing with plenty of glamour and comic relief. The Divas cleaned up 12-8, despite handicapping themselves with dangerously high stillettos---a feat that could be credited to the Divas’ tendency to tackle the Dykes and use a makeup stand as a distraction technique. A surprise visit from the uniformed Saint Mary’s Huskies football players to the Halifax Pride event may also have served to boost morale amongst the Divas. Equal parts fashion show and softball game, the Divas used a bit of fabric to create a makeshift wardrobe on the diamond, accommodating necessary wardrobe changes during the game. Some outfit highlights included the Dyke’s Heather Robert’s fat suit and mullet, Shayla Shenanigan’s Orphan Annie hair and apron, Divas’ Boom Boom Lubalicious’ gravity defying hair and a healthy dose of fishnets and fur.
