Impressively, Darren Fisher was one of only three councillors who had the courage to vote to censure Peter Kelly. He should be praised.
So it's unfortunate his grade is coming down. But that regression reflects his unwavering support of building a stadium, even when it became painfully obvious that there was no sense to the proposal on the table. A stadium could conceivably be part of the municipal mandate, but any reasonable person should've seen that the rush job for this stadium to host an obscure part of a FIFA tournament was destined to fail. Still, Fisher was the front man for the stadium, initiating the process and pushing it through at every turn. He's even now in support of it.
Otherwise, Fisher voted to remove the Hydrostone from the north end BID, and supported the sale of the St. Pat's-Alexandra site for condo development. He also voted to send Skye Halifax to a public hearing.
Fisher seems to be defining himself as council's "sports guy." He made a big stink about cuts in arena hours, and as a result the cuts were reversed. So there's that.
