Cud Eastbound gathers no moss. The Halifax-based banjo-plucking folk musician's third full-length album Furcula "Little Fork" was recently released on new label All We've Got Records, but only after Eastbound had toured the album extensively, for a year and a half, in fact.

"Travelling is the most important part of my life, it can help force you to let go of your fears and deal with what is presented to you," says Eastbound. "I'm lucky to live in North America, where travelling is a luxury I have and recognize. To have the opportunity to talk and share ideas with people from all walks of life is amazing."

Furcula "Little Fork," a wistful and intimate collection of songs, was recorded on one such trip. It was made on PEI, "on a 60-acre woodlot my friend and I own," says Eastbound. "I was living out of my '77 Dodge camper van, and decided that because I wrote almost all of those songs while either living in or escaping to my van, it was the most appropriate place to record the album. The acoustics are awesome.

"I only noticed that you could hear birds singing in the background once I had my friend Ryan Dubowesky master the album."

By the end of this month, Eastbound will have another brand new album in the can, and a new home on the horizon. Appropriately titled Leaving, "the entire album is focused on a different kind of heartbreak, it's the search for a place I can call my home. It's a commentary on subcultures dedicated to counter mainstream ideals sometimes can cruelly reflect the very structures they're trying to oppose. I'm moving to the Yukon in May 2014, to a place I feel contains people who are honest to each other and most of to themselves. I'll miss Halifax, and it will always have a place in my heart, it's a place that I have found amazing people full of life, but a new adventure is brewing inside of me and I have to follow it."
