Heather Rankin says since her bar opened, she’s seen a major spike in people’s interest in not just wine, but what wine they’re drinking. “Six years ago people would be happy with lots of shiraz and New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Now, people are really looking for more unique, biodynamic, organic wines,” she says. “In turn that forces us to be on our toes, responding to their interests.” That’s why on any given day at Obladee you’ll find a thoughtful, creative curation of wines, both local and exotic. That and staff who genuinely know the product and love serving it. “I’d really like to thank the long time supporters and customers, they have a lot of choice now a days and it’s such a good feeling to see the same faces coming back again and again.”
