Mufit Halef’s busy shop deals with all kinds of clothing issues, including fashionable people in what Halef calls “a state of emergency.” What’s a fashion emergency? Prompted by a colleague—one of a team of three sisters who work with him—Mulef retrieves a thank-you card from a woman who came to Mic Mac in a panic after another tailor botched her wedding gown. “My wedding dress catastrophe was averted only due to your amazing skills and expertise as a master tailor!” she wrote. Somebody that happy makes Halef’s day, says the sister: “He’s modest, but he’s the best.”
