With some staff working there for 30 or 40 years, it’s not surprising that the Chickenburger feels like home for so many of its customers. The Bedford staple has been doling out its notorious titular burgers for 72 years and has transformed from restaurant to icon. It’s so popular, in fact, that another location was opened at the airport in September and a third location is open on Queen Street now. The Chickenburger gets its staying power from a variety of places. It’s got a fun, kitschy interior, burgers and fish that are never frozen and made fresh daily, and of course, that wonderful staff. Let’s hope that the next generation of Chickenburger shops can live on for 72 years, too.
