If you go on Wikipedia and look up diner you'll see a photo of The Chickenburger. That's how iconic the Bedford landmark has become. Opened in 1940, the claim of retro style is authentic: the Chick was a walk-up and drive-up eatery until 1986 when it expanded to include a sit-down area inside. What keeps people coming is the comfort and consistency of the kind of food that has always been served there: fish and chips, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, award-winning milkshakes and, of course, chicken burgers.
