Best Radio Station

CKDU 88.1 FM

CKDU continues to produce unique content for Halifax airwaves, including alternative news, niche music, cultural programming and much more. Program director Tarek Al-Zand reports in 2010 the station met its fundraising goals. “CKDU provides programming created by the community, for the community,” he says. “And the funding drive success illustrates that people want the station to continue to provide an alternative source for music, news and everything in between.” Local volunteers produce all of the content heard on the station. New programs to keep an ear open for: *I Really Love You,* rare oldies from 1950-1969, *Habitat,* an environmental news show with a local focus, *New Roots Radio,* immigration issues and stories from the Halifax community and *JD Pomo,* storytelling, post-modern style---fragmented, non-linear anecdotes that may or may not be real.
