Steven Bruhm

One of the few courses where you’ll find both Chaucer and Stephen King on the syllabus is Steven Bruhm’s first-year Intro to Literature. “The students love it,” the expert in gothic literature laughs. For several years Bruhm has been researching the relationship between contemporary videos such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller and medieval dances of death where dead figures reanimate to bust a scary move. But in Bruhm’s Studies in Contemporary Culture class, students will be dancing with fear since both Marilyn Manson and The Ring are on the schedule.

1st runner-up Peter March, Saint Mary’s University

2nd runner-up Roberta Baker, Dalhousie University
