Dalhousie theatre students wanted to see Roberta Barker’s name in lights, er, print. The wise woman behind many a class, including Gender in Theatre, Stars and Stardom on Stage and Screen and Canadian Theatre, is passionate about what she does. “The key goal of teaching is giving students the tools and self-confidence they need to develop their own talents in their own ways,” says a flattered Barker. “I also believe strongly in sharing my passion for the material and in being open to exposing my own vulnerabilities and uncertainties, as I hope this encourages students to be willing to do the same.” And for that, she deserves a standing O.
