Best Place To Feel Like You're Not In Halifax

Point Pleasant Park

Last month, Point Pleasant Park was opened to the public for one weekend only so that SuperCitizens could view firsthand the devastation caused by Hurricane Juan. Despite the pictures in the paper and even the aerial footage on TV, the thousands who came to the park were not prepared for what they saw. Many were in tears. Between 60 to 75 percent of the woodland was flattened by the hurricane, perhaps 20,000 trees killed. And the future of Point Pleasant remains uncertain. Properly managed, these woods will replenish themselves. But the park will never be what it was. Not in our lifetime.

Runner-up: Seven Wine Bar and Restaurant
