Reports of reservations recommended and full rooms indicate a very warm reception to the restaurant—opened in November 2011 by Richard Wu and Michelle Lin—by Halifax’s sushi lovers. Wasabi House’s win in the Best New Restaurant category confirms it: people love the joint. Certainly the location, at the corner of Quinpool and Oxford, hasn’t hurt at all, and neither did the clever folks at Empire Theatres programming the dynamite documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi at The Oxford, priming cinema-goers for a post-screening meal across the street. For those who have yet to try it, keep in mind that lunch specials run from 11am-3pm and happy hour is every day from 9pm until close.
