Plato once said, “He was a wise man who invented beer.” Indeed. Owner and brewmaster Kevin Keefe established Granite Brewery in 1985—it was the first brew pub east of the Rockies—and now boasts five different ales on tap with two locations in Halifax and a third in Toronto. “We brew the only authentic English beer, cask conditioned and hand-pumped. The yeast is a 100-year-old strain from England,” says Keefe. “It has a very distinctive flavour.”
