Multi-year winner Ch!ris Sm!th spent last year playing with others. “REPIXX is a group exhibition I co-curated with Argyle Fine Art where we gave 15 of my band photos to 15 visual artists (painters, ceramic sculptors, wood-carvers, etc.), and they recreated or interpreted them however they wanted,” Sm!th says. He also started the popular Battle SNAP, a social photo contest where photographers meet, enter photos and winners are declared, all in one evening, and he’s also teaching kids photography through a Youth at Risk program. Since he’s such a giving guy we asked for Sm!th’s advice on shooting awesome rock photography: “Stay away from brick walls, stairwells and train tracks! I’m still trying to find a way to get all three at once in a band shot for the ultimate cliche shoot. If you know of such a magical place, please contact me.”
