With his mom Gloria’s retirement from council, Fat Apollo might now be the most famous McCluskey in Halifax HRM, especially given his continual domination of this category every year. “This Fat Apollo thing was a slow burn,” says Michael McCluskey. “As my mom came to politics late in life, I came to Fat Apollo late in life...Mom came to politics at 52, and I became a fat man in a cape.” When not accepting BOH awards, Apollo spends his time attending multiple comic conventions around Atlantic Canada and beyond. He’s missing Hal-Con this year for the first time because he’s booked in Cardiff, Wales.
