Sitting at the corner of North and Agricola Streets, the Mid-East Food Centre is a hub of the north end, carrying a little bit of everything from Greece and Bulgaria down to India. It’s no wonder readers think it’s the best: Turkish coffees, Lebanese coffees, yerba mate. Brown rice, red rice, wild rice, basmati and almost 100 bulk herbs and spices. Thick yogurts and fresh pita every day by 9am. “Where else can you get tarragon and bulgar at the same time?” asks manager Mohammad Mohammad. Aside from yummy and exotic groceries, the Mid East Food Centre boasts an affordable Halal cafe.
