Kim Stacey is overjoyed to get the news that her little Eastern Passage restaurant’s fish cakes have yet again taken this title. But she’s not surprised. “I just think that we really work hard to keep them consistent, now that we know people love them it’s our number one priority,” says the chef and owner at Emma’s Eatery. “I’m really picky now about keeping them consistent—the texture has be perfect. It’s kind of obsessive, but it works.” She says the best part about her famous dish being so beloved is hearing all of the nostalgic fish cake stories, and suggestions, from her patrons. “I really didn’t expect fishcakes to be my claim to fame in life.”
