With little tourism in the area and minimal traffic from Halifax, Finbar’s Irish Pub depends on local customers, says co-owner Michael Casey. Along with his wife and business partner Pamela, Casey worked to create a neighbourhood joint and, boy, have they succeeded. “We recognize almost every face and know an awful lot of names around here,” says Casey. “We consider almost everybody that chooses Finbar’s as a regular.” Nothing says loyalty like also voting one of your bartenders and servers to the top of The Coast’s Best of Food polls. The pair prides their pub on its friendly atmosphere, great service, more-than-just-potatoes Irish cuisine and beer tap selections. Finbar’s also hosts community fundraisers and cooking classes with local chefs. Make sure to show up early on Wednesdays, home to weekly quiz nights that pack the pub.
