Gold Winner Blythe Church, Sewn By Blythe

Silver Winner Isabelle Pineau, An Oddity Or Two

Bronze Winner Bethany Butterworth, Bread & Butter Pottery

Blythe Church makes the kind of art most of us can’t even dream up. From hand-dyed felt sculptures that are embroidered into the mirror images of the household and electronic items that her customers request, to adorable stuffed monsters that you wouldn’t mind hiding under your bed and now a whole range of clothing and accessories for your little ones. “I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was always drawing and sewing which brought me to a degree in textiles at NSCAD. When I graduated and started working full-time I sewed in the evenings as a creative outlet. Five years ago I sold my first monster and I have had a needle and thread in my hand pretty much every evening since!” says Church. “With a day job and an energetic toddler my business takes a lot of will power, motivation and really late nights working in my studio. I feel really honoured to have been voted best crafter in a city as creative as Halifax.” And Halifax is happy to have her. You’ll be able to congratulate her yourself and pick up one of her creations coming up at the Halifax Crafters Winter Market and the East Coast Momma Collective’s Holiday Market---both happening December 1 and 2---or at one of several stores listed on
