Best Candidate For Mayor

Sheila Fougere

Well, isn’t that handy, since Fougere has announced she’ll be running. Having served on Halifax Regional Council since 1998, representing District 14 Connaught-Quinpool, Fougere has a pretty good idea of what important issues a Halifax mayor should be looking at in the future. “Transportation. It’s always top of mind,” she says. “And not just public transportation, but improving our transportation network by not widening every road in sight.” Fougere calls Halifax a “magnificent place to live,” but would like to see us thrive, not just survive. “We’ve got great plans, but they can’t just gather dust.”

First runner up: Peter Kelly

Second runner up: Leo Salloum
