Two If By Sea came into being from what co-owner Zane Kelsall describes as “romantic visions of living beside the ocean.” Neither he nor co-owner Tara MacDonald were born on the east coast (Kelsall’s from Alberta and MacDonald’s from Ontario). As passionate lovers of everything caffeinated, starting up a coffee shop just made sense, and the hefty and highly addictive croissants didn’t hurt either. With locations on both sides of the harbour now, TIBS has got Halifax covered for coffee and sweets, but Dartmouth owns your hearts, readers. The cafe is stirring the (coffee) pot this year with some new and exciting stuff, but Kelsall is keeping that on the downlow for now.
