What makes brunch here special is the zany cultural mergers happening in your plate. The Coastal takes morning classics and reinvents them using (among others) Mexican, Indian and French cuisines. Take the Naan-Cheros, featuring fried eggs, butter chicken and onion chutney. “Flavour is my big thing,” says owner Mark Giffin. “I want people to get something beyond just a plate of bacon and eggs and hash browns.” His own longtime favourite, the Huevos Rancheros, a pair of eggs featuring cheesy tortillas, guacamole, salsa and mole. “That’s the dish that made this place.
