“I think il Mercato stole a little bit of Halifax’s heart,” says Bertossi Group’s John Michael Brewer of the restaurant that got its start on Spring Garden Road, but continues to blossom in Sunnyside Mall. “It’s always been a staple.” With a bustling, social atmosphere, a tantalizing menu of fresh, Italian favourites like pastas and pizzas, wine for days and a dessert counter that I literally dream of on a regular basis—il Mercato never gets old, it just gets wiser to what us hungry folks want.
