Kirk Johnson may have low-blown his shot at the world heavyweight boxing title in Vegas last summer, but you sure aren’t holding that against this North Preston native. Yeah, his 32-1-1 record in the ring is pretty cool, and you like that he’s known to be a gentleman in a sport that gave us Mike Tyson. But mostly you’re just as proud of this local kid done good as he is of the community that raised him. Which may be why you’ve chosen Johnson to take home this year’s best athlete belt.
