“Fuck yeah! This category has a special place in our hearts,” says the dance-hall band’s guitarist Richard McNeil. “I think it’s because we get so trashed that we encourage everyone to get trashed, too. We’re a party band.” The seven-person unit is busy with monthly nights at The Seahorse, a full summer of festivals, a new full-length record due out near Christmas and their Cold Smoke festival in January. “We play dance hall, hip-hop and reggae, all meant to be enjoyed in a party atmosphere,” he says. And Dub Kartel delivers.
