It’s a meaningful win for Halifax’s Best Activist Jay Aaron Roy. The mentor who inspired him, Leighann Wichman, passed away just a few weeks ago. The director of Geeks vs Nerds actually first met Wichman years ago when she came into his workplace, Strange Adventures. Since then, Roy has been working hard to help others with the Youth Project and campaigning to change the provincial requirements for altering sex markers on official IDs. Roy wants to share his award this year with Wichman. “I’d have no involvement with the Youth Project if not for her.”
