Let’s Express Our Motives

Barmitzvah Brothers
Let’s Express Our Motives
weework
An appropriately themed narrative of 19 under-appreciated jobs by this Guelph art-pop band weaned on the indie music scene---especially as all members are involved in side projects. Songwriting and style is split between Geordie Gordon, who gives “Projectionist” David Byrne-like lyrics and sound, and Jenny Mitchell, whose pretty voice and plucky banjo on “Janitor” make lines like “I shovel all their yards but they don’t give me Christmas cards,” as maudlin as tunes about long-haul truck drivers. Clock in some time with “Traffic Technician,” the most fun you could ask for while working the back-shift.
