Best of Halifax

Best Sign We’re Almost on the Radar

This category signifies Halifax's arrival onto the B-List of concert tours.

Call us the Chowder Belt. Yeah, we’ve had a few high-profile Boomer icons play in town in the recent past, including KISS, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Neil Young (twice), with Art Garfunkel coming soon. But what we’ve really noticed is how we’ve become such an essential stop for those working musicians whose shine is a little dimmed. They were hot 10 or 20 or 30 years back, and they’re still hot here: A version of English Beat, Guns and Roses---with hired guns---Blondie, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Collective Soul, Stone Temple Pilots, Glass Tiger’s Alan Frew, Smith’s bassist Andy Rourke. Fuck you Moncton, we’re getting all these guys.
