It's CKDU funding drive season, which means a whack of daily events are coming your way for the next week or so. They're kicking things off on an extremely high falsetto with an evening dedicated to the man, the legend, the godfather of musical parody---Weird Al Yankovic. Those of us with a slightly off sense of humour and a love for utter fromage will be donning Hawaiian shirts and tight curls, belly laughing at local comics, chiming in with Jon McKiel, The Fat Stupids, Catholic Gaydar and others as they perform Al's biggest hits and then: Kar-AL-oke. Yup, Windom Earle welcomes you to let it Al out before dancing the night away to polka mashups courtesy of DJ James Reid. "It's going to be a night where we can all get over ourselves for awhile, eat some burgers and laugh and dance ourselves stupid," says CKDU's Conor Purdy. We're so sold.
Fri Sep 21, Gus' Pub & Grill, 2605 Agricola St, 10pm, $5
