Not all food trucks are created equal. Some do much better than others and having a entry fee helps share the profits/costs between all the different trucks. Theres costs associated with hosting these rally, like renting parking lots, getting permits, powering the trucks, etc
Some trucks sell good quality food too - local, gourmet, prepared from scratch. Others are more standard
these food trucks don't always make a lot of money, these events help them support their business. I'm not saying you have to go to the event, but protesting it is just silly. Not surprising tho, some of you are pretty silly because it\s apparently ridiculous for people to make a profit from organizing and hosting events like this.
either spend the toonie, or stop complaining about something you don't/won't participate in
I don't believe many of you have considered the site remediation costs of tearing down a building such as the Forum. Tearing down walls, removing foundations, and disturbing soil and building materials is costly. There will likely be asbestos discovered which will have to be contained and removed; lead containing materials as well. And once things are disturbed and discovered they need to be dealt with properly.
The cost of getting rid of the existing building and returning the site back to a condition where it can accept a new building would likely be upwards of 5 million dollars alone. Any 'surprises' would only drive that cost higher.
Renovating is more resource efficient and less wasteful - and if done right, we would no longer have the old, ugly outdated building that seems to cause so much grief.
And personally, of all the hockey rinks in this province I've seen, the Forum is far from the ugliest - Those who use the buildings seem to care more about the enjoyment they receive from them rather than what they look like.

Also, there was no damage...
