I was tempted to go try them out until I looked at the nutritional information on their website. ONE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED and SIXTY calories in a KID'S MEAL!?! Are you insane? Absolutely repulsive. I could not find one even remotely healthy menu option.
Seriously? The restaurants here are AWFUL! Haligonians just don't realize they are paying way too much for everything, including restaurant food. And it's practically impossible to find anything healthy! Ever heard of a salad bar?
The new market is, in my opinion, a total failure. The layout of the new building simply worsens the crowd issues experienced by the old market. The upstairs was merely a retreat from the insanity down below - totally useless. When I went to make a purchase, it became a yelling match; whoever yelled loudest got the product. No organization or consideration of the line up. After fifteen minutes I gave up and left, and I doubt I will return.
As someone has mentioned above, some people do not choose to have hyphenated names; they are born into them. Calling them 'pretentious' and 'insecure' is offensive.
The major problem with this restaurant is its lack of consistency. I swear, the side items I order change each time I get them (namely the potato salad and the mac n' cheese). For the macaroni, they seem to change the cheese every so often (this last time it tasted like parmesan - weird!).
I also dislike how they dip many of the meats into a big vat of barbecue sauce. It grosses me out. I have also witnessed them microwaving the chicken breasts covered in saran wrap. Yuck. Possible chemical leaching?
Take out is very inconsistent. Sometimes they are rather generous with portions while other times, I consider going back to the restaurant to complain. This last time, they got the sauce wrong and didn't include any coleslaw.
Last, no one at Q seems to have any passion for barbeque. There's no "southern" feel or hospitality; just a bunch of young people earning wages.
