Held a birthday gathering here one year - and the owner accused someone in my party of less than 14 - of leaving without paying.
The bills were written on a half ripped up post-it note and it turned out the bill WAS paid for and stuck to another properly written bill from another table.
Never again. Food was barely mediocre.
Oh and service sucked big time. We had to ask for people to clear our plates and refill the jugs of pop.
First of all - it's not called "North China" anymore - it's called New Asia I believe. I think there was a change of ownership recently.
When it was North China - we had the lamb hot-pot which was delicious!! Very fresh, thinly carved lamb (from Windsor, NS every 3 days they get a shipment we were told), a massive plate of noodles, tofu and vegetables and the broth was flavourful.
The last time I went there - about a year ago - they said they only serve hot pot during the winter months. Very upsetting. Ah well.
Since then - my husband and I had their dim sum religiously - every weekend and every weekend I got sick afterward within 30 minutes. I think it may have resulted because of their pan-fried dumplings being ridiculously greasy/oily to the point you had to stab carefully with a chop stick in order to pick one up.
The stir-fry from "New Asia" - was light, plentiful and great. I believe I had chicken moo-goo-guy pan. Not something I normally would order but the person I was with was a bit of a chicken to try anything different.
Had lunch there once while it was "New Asia" - and there's a "soup of the day" that comes with the lunch combo and we were told the soup chef wasn't in. Ok - no big deal. 10 minutes later we were served soup that was supposed to be hot and sour - very bland and clearly microwaved.
Take it for what it's worth.
