Simple solution, Bro Tim: wear your usual gear, and a sign that says 'Nudist on Strike' :)
@Mole Rat, personally, I think the weirdos are the ones that don't have tickle trunks ;)
Although I totally don't think it warrants calling a someone a lazy bitch, I can kind of see why OP would be annoyed that her friend didn't wear a costume. I think as the host of a party, you have the right to make certain rules or requests of your guests. IMO, her friend's behaviour is really no different than showing up at a formal affair in jeans and a t-shirt, or showing up at a potluck empty handed. It's a bit tacky and disrespectful.
However, in the future, I would suggest OP employ my solution. Anyone who shows up at my party without a costume gets a costume chosen for them out of the tickle trunk. Those who don't like having their outfits chosen by a bunch of giggling drunks quickly learn to dress appropriately the next time.
There's probably a lot of things that you don't know about residential schools, yorkke. There's been a concerted effort to ensure that the Canadian populace remains completely ignorant about the atrocities that were perpetrated against Aboriginal peoples.
Thank you, Tim, for helping to bring these issues into public view. We as Canadians need to face the truth.
Please. Prince is a muthafucking legend. He's made oodles of new music in the last decade, for those who've been paying attention, and his old stuff still stands the test of time. If you're not a fan, that's fine and no one's forcing you to buy a ticket, but for those of us who are, this is pretty damn exciting. Why be a hater?
There are approx. 30,000 Afghan immigrants in this country. The majority of them haven't killed their wives or daughters, nor probably ever will. Violence against women and girls is hardly a culturally specific problem.
The media loves to bring out the hysterical xenophobes with a good "honour killing" story. Lots of Western men use fucked up misogynistic attitudes to justify killing Western women too, but you'll never see some sensational headline like "Man Kills Wife Because of Rampant Misogyny and Western Patriarchal Culture". Certain Eastern European countries condone honour killings as well but, chances are, if a white European immigrant killed his wife and daughters, we'd probably just chalk it up to the fact that he was a misogynistic psycho and leave it at that.
What a whiner. There are numerous all ages shows at HPX. Tonight there are 5 all ages events, tomorrow night there are no less than 8, count 'em 8, all ages shows, and Saturday there's 5, many including festival headliners. Some shows end up being at bars, because they're the appropriately-sized and available venues. Get over it, OP.
I go here for Martini Mondays, which is a busy night, so I'm used to the service being a bit slow sometimes. However, slow doesn't even begin to describe the service I experienced last night.
My friends and I arrived and were seated at a table for over 20 mins and had yet to be served, so we were understandably growing quite impatient. My friend approached one of the servers to mention we had been there awhile and would like to order, and she told him she'd let the server in our section know. Fine. We wait another 15 mins with no service, so I approach another server, who also states she'll let our elusive server know we're here. 10 mins later our server arrives and takes our order, and then 15 mins later he arrives back at the table with our drinks. So, if you're keeping track, that's about an hour to get one drink.
The agonizingly slow service continued for the next couple of drinks, until finally, totally irritated by waiting for drinks and having to shout over the gratingly loud music, we decided to leave. Although I have had better service here on other occasions, after this experience, I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon.
