I'm glad to read the turkey was at least real. SO many places feel it's okay to cheap out and give you that deli crap.
Maybe you gave it a second chance because you're reviewing the place, maybe not.
I just know the average person (me included) wouldn't be so inclined to quickly go back to a place that gave a rough first outing. First impressions are everything.
Batshit all the way. Good call.
I don't quite follow how you sound fairly disappointed yet end the review on an upbeat note giving them an recommendation.

The best element of this review is how someone can sound like they expected more from an establishment such as this, the disappointment that followed, and the 'why did they think that in the first place' school of thought.
Look around. You're sitting in an eatery located in the downtown core of Dartmouth. There is no incredible word of mouth or prestige to be found. Forget about the walls and faux euro vibe. At best, the place is going to deliver good comfort food (pub grub) and if it doesn't, there should be no surprise.
One star ratings are not something to be thrown around with ease. I try my best to think 'hey maybe it was just an off night, go back another time and try something else on the menu, etc'. You know? Give it a chance, but then reality kicks in and I realize if my first experience was sore then does it really deserve another taste of my time and money?
Porters on Portland St. is one of those places.
Not long ago, friends and I began trying new establishments rather than sticking to our regular haunts when we'd go out to eat. Each time would be someone's choice to pick the destination. Needless to say, Porters holds the dubious distinction of being the worst. In fact, I can't lie about the unease I felt going there. A place you've never eaten at always presents a certain uncertainty, but the fact it was also the site of two failed restaurants (The Keg, Boomerangs) within a strip mall didn't help my outlook.
It didn't get any better once inside. Zero ambiance or atmosphere. The dining area was nearly empty ... for supper time! In hindsight, this should have sent up some red flags, but I was honestly still preoccupied with the idea that we were actually here. The service was alright and the mixed cocktail I slipped on decent, but it was going to take some good food to pull out a last ditch win.
Give yourself bonus points if you figured out, it didn't.
Re: “Lovers in a digital time”
Just because we live in the digital age doesn't mean its acceptable to dump someone via text. Breaking up is a reality of relationships and dating, but even the endgame should show some mutual respect.
