The Old Apothecary Bakery & Cafe

Meghan Tansey Whitton
The bakery's first location was a historic downtown storefront that, over the decades, housed tenants from a jeans shop to an ancient drugstore. Luckily TOA founder Laura MacLeod chose to take naming inspiration from the old apothecary instead of the the denim den, because her bread is just what the doctor ordered. In its circa 2020 harbourside location in the Historic Farmers' Market building, TAO is a fresh, cheery place open seven days a week. Pop in for all sorts of sourdough loaves, baked sweets and pastries to go, or linger over coffee.
