Re: “A guide to Halifax’s second-hand bookstores

You helped me to find a very important (and seemingly rare) book for my first wedding anniversary! Thanks!

Re: “Halifax Citadel Hill National Historic Site history

Well written. I want to go visit Citadel Hill again and I think it would be great to be there for the noon event. Thanks Charlene for this article.

Re: “Halifax After Dark

Hey! Nobody mentioned 6$ Double Margaritas at Mexicali Rosa's on Mondays! and it's a hop skip and a jump from the Fireside.

Re: “A guide to Halifax’s second-hand bookstores

thank you for taking the time to write this. As a used book and old bookstore junkie, I only wish it was available in every major city! Rochelle

Re: “A guide to Halifax’s second-hand bookstores

ABC: Antiques, Books & Collectibles, specializes in local and antique/collectible/rare books, will occasionally have books used in Atlantic studies courses. Book inventory is online on their website, www.abcantiques.ca browsable by category or with the search form.
Also interested in buying used local/antique/rare/collectible books.

Re: “Go Local: South End

Don't forget Schooner Books! They've been buying and selling used books in Halifax for around 35 years . While they specialize in Nova Scotian history they also have giant literature, philosophy, and history sections, not to mention some of the oddest and some bizarre ephemera. They've got something for every reader, and that something could be a gift card to ease your shopping pain.

Re: “Go Local: Spring Garden

Obviously the author hasn't visited Charlottetown, PEI.
How do you come up with this BS?!
Anything to try and keep your job huh?!

Re: “Go Local: Spring Garden

The main drag in Mahone Bay strikes me as longer, more varied, and a lot nicer to look at. Spring Garden is just a drag.

Re: “Halifax After Dark

Oasis (for students) is the closest to campus, and had 10$ of Bud & Bud Light everyday, all day. That's the legal lowest price allowed for beer. It's under the Lord Nelson on Spring Garden Rd. Thursdays and Saturdays are wing night with 30cent wings plus they have a whole schedule of Frosh week stuff!

Re: “Dartmouth daytripper

Dartmouth has alot too offer; check out Banook area. It is absolutely beautiful and all the people in the area are very friendly!
Then go to Two if by the sea and pick up a "I love Dartmouth" short; then run down to porters and pick up a "It's okay to be from Dartmouth" Sweater!

Re: “Go Local: Halifax Waterfront

OMG! Black Bear Ice Cream has the awesomest flavours! I can never decide which flavour I want, so I always have to get 2 scoops - which means I get to enjoy two different flavours. And I never get the same combo twice. Each time I try a new flavour, my mouth just waters...

Re: “Love the way we beach

Re: “Love the way we beach

Rainbow Haven is known as the "poor man's beach" so don't go here expecting to see the uppity ups of society. The changing tides muck up the water making swimming unpleasant as you battle against seaweed and other sea plants. Crystal Crescent can be great depending on the tides. Martinique is awesome, but like they say, a little far from the city (think day-trip). If you head down to South Shore (Chester, Lunenburg, Hubbards) there are plenty of beaches all around.

Re: “Go Local: Hydrostone

It is pretty funny that they put in a Starbucks right in the middle of a local business district.

Check out Humani-T Cafe on Young Street right down from Hydrostone.. They seriously make the best gelato in Halifax... I highly doubt Starbucks can compete with Italian Ice Cream!

Re: “Hot Summer patios

"Hot Summer Patios" - It would it be so awesome to see photos here. You can't describe outdoor summer patios, we need visuals.
