WOW! This place is great, I can't seem to get past the chicken burrito though, have had it about 6 times now and love it with all those fresh toppings, if you like it HOT the fresh pepper sauce is wonderful as it brings the sweat out on your forehead by about the third bite. Much along the same line as Subway but 10 times better (in my humble opinion). Check it out, a full, relatively healthy meal for under $10. Can't beat it for value.
First visit was take-out, and i'll be back. Very good quality food.
Wow, what a pleasant experience! The food is full of flavour, aromas & colour... really wonderful! I am vegetarian, and there are very few non-meat selections on the menu but I heartily recommend them all... a roasted eggplant & saffron rice dish, the spicy hummus & persian bread (the bread reminds me of a montreal bagel... yum!).
The rice pudding is not a milk-based one... quite unusual, but really delicious & refreshing. Beautifully decorated food! Their freshly-made baklava is HEAVEN!!!
Voted for Fiddleheads as best new store in BOH... great addition to Dartmouth!
Nice Little Spot ,FREE WI FI
As stated on the website. If the cafe isn't busy, claim your table before ordering. We tried that and where asked to move by the waitress. There where enough seats available for all the groups that just came in but we selected the only spot that would seat three, as we where the only group of three to come in. To bad, was looking forward to trying this establishment. Most restaurants post their seating arrangement at the entrance. If this establishments policy is place your order at the counter then hope you can find a seat to eat at, well that should be posted at the the door.
Humani-T Started out well. Their customer service was great, their products were fresh, the atmosphere was serene. After going there the past couple of times, it has all changed. The staff are rude at its best. Me and my partner waited 9 minutes for our latte's to be made, while people who were behind us in line were getting their product before us, their cakes were dry and not moist, and upon presenting the, "Coffee Card", to one of the staff members, she said it was too late to swipe it. Perhaps educating your patients on what this card is and when to present it would help. All in all, very disappointed with this place.
I do not recommend this salon. The female stylist is young and inexperienced. There are much better salons in Halifax.
It was my first time in there and compared to the other Greek restaurants in Halifax, the food was really dissapointing. First of all, we ordered shrimp "Garides" which has only 4 pieces of shrimp and a tomato paste, priced over $10. Calamari was the second appetizer which is chewy. For the main courses, I got the lamb souvlaki with little bit of rice and salad. Lamb was overcooked some pieces were burnt and definitely not marinated enough. The chicken souvlaki was really dry and same not marinated enough. The service was okay but all in all I will not go there again and definitely not recommend to anybody who is really into culinary.
This place is yummy and the staff are awesome and accommodated all my special requests with no problems. I guess it's the same stuff as Venus Pizza has always had, but seems slightly more delicious for some reason. Have tried various poutines and they were all great with a good amount of cheese and/or meat, and the beef and chicken shwarma are both yummy...not overly spicy. I don't know what they do to the rice but it has great flavour. I am a bit of a pickle snob and was impressed with the pickleyness of the green pickles. The garlic mayo is one of the greatest sauces ever...tastes like it was made by Keebler Elves who make sauce instead of cookies. If you work in Burnside you should go to Mezza as soon as possible...but go early because I don't like it when I get there and there are no seats available...my one complaint is that it is too small and my other one complaint is that they close at 5pm so if I wanted to stop after work to get dinner I can't because they are closed. I think next time I may ask them to make me a pure pickle pita with garlic sauce.
I must chime in as I was reading through the reviews and noticed this comment:
"The manager we complained to really was not taking any responsiblity for the quality of the food. When we complained he tried to blame it on everything from how busy the day had been, to it being later in the evening and the gravy container had gotten low, to the staff being still in training mode because they had only opened a week ago. We were offered a $25 gift certificate in place of a refund, but at almost $19 a meal, it hardly feels worth it. "
I can confirm this as I was waiting at the counter myself after ordering two meals. I too had been waiting for over an hour and was about to get up and ask for my money back when I saw this couple's experience with the manager.
the food was OK, but luke warm at best. The management should honestly start with an Apology as opposed to blaming everything from just opening to staff training.
Unsatisfied.
My wedding dress had 3 pins in it where the pick ups weren't done and the bustle wasn't done at all!!! One of the pins scratched my daughter when I picked her up at one point. When I called him to let him know, Danielle didn't care at all. Horrible customer service!!
My boyfriend (who has been 3 times since discovering this place about a month ago) and I went here for dinner one night last week. The pizza is TO DIE FOR. The thin, fire roasted crust, the fresh tangy San Marzano Sauce, fresh ingredients...this all makes for a trifecta of pizza perfection! Probably some of the best pizza I've had in this city. We split a panna cotta for dessert which was also lovely.
Best of all? Our server. Laura was attentive, friendly and chatty. All around pleasant. One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had!
Never had a problem and vegetables are always fresh. Calzones are great buy and very tasty. Huge menu will cover any cravings !
I really like this place. I like the servers, the people, the food, the atmosphere and the location. YUMM!!
I just checked out this place to buy some ingredients for Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving). When I went inside, there was no greetings. When I asked a few questions about the prices of the products to the male owner, he did not even look at me and mumbled instead. It was hard to shop because it does not show the price of many of the products. When he rang mine in, he randomly started hitting buttons for the prices. (He seemed to know the price of every product.) Luckily, I caught a mistake he made and he seemed to correct it. (He charged me 1 dollar more so he seemed to subtract it.) However, when I calculated the receipt on the way home, he added 1 dollar more by mistake. I, at least, know that he charged me 2 more dollars than he should have. Who knows? How many mistakes did he make when he rang in the other products I purchased today? One more thing! The receipt is so useless because it does not show the specific name at all just a bunch of numbers. I asked him why is that and he just said that it is just because...I feel annoyed and ripped off one day before one of the biggest holidays, Chuseok, in Korea from a Korean living in Halifax. He should learn how to deal with customers and how to ring in products first before he runs a business. I would not recommend this place at all. What a grumpy old man who does not want to be there and help customers!
Just got back from the market. Worst service I have ever received. Maybe it is just the old guy working there today, but he mumbles (in Korean) and is NOT at all knowledgeable. We told him that an item wrong in wrong (he charged an extra dollar). He checked and when we got home realized he charged an extra dollar instead of taking it off. We will NOT be back to this store.
Have just returned to this restaurant after several weeks to try again, because generally the food is great but I'd had a bad experience last visit, and today was, yet again, disappointing.
Firstly, whilst the taste of the falafel pita is generally excellent, the 'cabbage salad' in it today was very poorly shredded, and therefore I came across several large chunks of cabbage 'spine' in my sandwich.
Secondly, I was truly flabbergasted, as a person who enjoys drinking coffee with lunch, to learn that there are no free refills on the coffee. Not sure if I just haven't checked my bill in previous visits, or whether this is a new thing.
Now, I eat out several times a week, and have done for many, many years now, and I have to say I believe this must be the only restaurant in all of Halifax where there are no refills.
Sad to say, it will now be even longer before I return there, and when I do, and hopefully I will, I will have to think more carefully about what I order, both to eat and drink.
I ate there with BF yesterday, and the food was quite good. He had the mac and cheese, which came with a spinach salad, and was wonderful (I kept sneaking bites of it) The food is freshly made and nicely presented. I had a Cobb salad, which was unremarkable. A bit too much iceberg lettuce and breaded chicken, and not enough dressing, but again, this is a hard dish to mess up. Good food, good service, nice clean place. Also they sell movie ticket for $7 which is cheaper than the usual price. My only real quibble is that the server abandoned us after the main course, and I wanted to try the bread pudding. Oh well, next time then.

Re: “Flipburger”
It was a horrible experience to say that least. I was going into the Lindt store next door when my sister and I noticed Flipburger. We hadn't had lunch so we decided to go in and have a go.
We payed $27 for two veggie burgers, two fries and two drinks. The veggie burger was just a Portobello mushroom with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, roasted red peppers and some sauce. For the price it was totally not worth it. It was too soggy and it tasted horrible. Nothing I couldn't have made at home with a trip to the grocery store.. I've had better veggie burgers (with actual veggie patties!!) at Jack Astor's and Swiss Chalet. I was very disappointed. Fries were ok but nothing to write home about. Too salty and too thin..a bit dried out as well, it seemed.
Their meat burgers are probably better (or so I hope...) but based on the experience I had, I would say I am definitely not going back.
I just expected a lot more from a self proclaimed burger place to at least have a decent option for vegetarians. If it's not too much to ask from Jack Astor's then I don't see why it's such a hassle for Flipburger - an actual burger place!!
