Yes: NYC has DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Dartmouth has DUMB. Down Under the Macdonald Bridge.
that's amazing! One of the editors here lives in Dartmouth under the MacDonald bridge. he wants one called DUMB...
For a Pin:
And it should have a picture of the flame from the cenotaph by Sullivan's Pond.
Check www.sobeyartaward.ca there is photographic evidence. I swear!
I was there and it was thrilling to see it all unfold! Kudos to everyone involved.
I'm participating in Bust A Move in January and anyone who'd like to support this great cause can submit a pledge here: http://bit.ly/B-A-M.
thanks for the pix... nice to see Halifax retains its grungy artsiness after all these years...
must be the continued influence of the NSAC////
To Random: A lot of people said the same thing about Pollock.
Randomness: In attempting to criticize something you don't understand, you end up sounding like a fool. Perhaps if you had bothered to go out and experience Nocturne, you would have an opinion worth listening to. There was a wide range of art and performance that was both intriguing and inspiring. I wish this city had more events like this, it made for a really enjoyable evening.
I had no idea garbage was art.
Bunch of talentless empty souls!!!!
You people wouldn't know what art is if it hit you over the head!
To that girl on the floor that's trying to be like some famous artist, you're no Pollock!
I don't believe that SEAMUS was there. Where the evidence at?
^ wrong city.
Somebody's application got rejected! Bitter much?
Charles Schulz not Schultz! Thanks for the heads up on the event though, I look forward to picking up Mike's book.
I was lucky enough to be there last night for the opening... and I was mesmerized. The dancers seamlessly transformed from birds preening to attract a mate, to a drunken downtown quickie to the hustle and bustle of today's artificial world oblivious to the survival struggles of the natural world. I was honoured to share in this magical piece. Congrats to all involved, especially Lisa, it was spellbinding... painfully realistic yet still beautiful and moving.
Everybody can be a net.art superstar when they know how to milk arts councils for money. Go ahead and see for yourself.
Shakespeare On Trial is touring to schools this Fall - go to www.offtheleash.ca to find out more! Thanks to kate for this great review.
