Only 3 stars because he didn't do Lunchbox or Tourniquet. Still a good time. Guy's getting a bit of a paunch though, it was like seeing the early days of Fat Elvis. Sound sucked, but it is the Metro Centre. Die Mannequin was ok, one or two songs it sounded like they found their formula, hope they realize what it is and focus on it.
Written and Directed by Zara Tufts and starring Jonathan Roode. Sleeping Beauty is a 45 minute heart wrenching story about a wife in a coma. In a series of flashbacks (anecdotes) the husband looks back on their five year marriage as he pours through a photo album. This play has some shortcomings of plot, but the theatre goer is rewarded by strong character driven performances. It is well-acted, and the stage direction is interesting. Jonathan Roode (the actor) is getting married this upcoming weekend in real life (best wishes). The play is for adult audiences, as there is talented lap dance scene, but young teenagers should try their hardest to sneak into the performance!
A fun 45 minutes of improvisation by theatre professionals. Expect to get on-stage and participate in a theatre game - sometimes similar to TV improv. People who enjoy improvisation will likely go more than once to this show, as it is different every night.
Young Street, South End corner of Inglis
$10 per session, $45 for weekend, Lunch extra
