I have attended several council meetings and council minutes include my involvement in the issues I care about. I was elected to the CLC board and worked closely with HRM and council for the duration of the project as well as sitting on the CIF committee. I was invited by HRM to sit on the steering committee for the Bloomfield Master Plan and was actively involved with the community engagement process, as I was on the CLC Board. I am the current vice president of The North End Business Assoc. and sit on the implementation committee which regularly communicates with council and HRM.
I have never read an HRM budget.
I own a large commercial property and a private home on the peninsula and feel home owners and commercial property owners are being unfairly taxed. More creative ways of generating revenue are demonstrated in other cities and we need to look at the examples they have set to solve this problem.
In June I attended a Planning Advisory Committee meeting and spoke on the need for the HRM charter to be amended in spite of the 2years+ it could require to take effect. The minutes are available from HRM staff.
Thanks for asking
No worries. He won't get elected. There are plenty of people in this city who are opposed to his views, etc.
Fred also for many years fought the hair licensing board refusing to but a license. Now sure someone who is a noted lawbreaker should now be a lawmaker
As to doubtful's question, he is willfully breaking the law by keeping the chickens. Why he has not been ticketed I do not know. Not a good example for a potential mayor to set.
If one can take from his behaviour in his work place and extrapolate...I had never used his services before he ignored me sitting late for over an hour without even a nod to me..he talked constantly about other people..name dropping other women, their state of marital hamony and blah, blah, blah...I went for a haircut and three hours later I finally escaped...grandosity would be the delusion. I don't care if you cut hair or you are a CEO but if those behaviours migrate into an office of power....palease.
My post wasn't angry, it was cranky.
Seriously, ask the man himself, then feel free to post the response you get. Duh.
Cranky - more people will read The Coast than the site link you provide. And the same questions apply to all other candidates, which negates your angry comment.
Q 5 - What leadership skills do you bring to the position ?
Q 6 - Have you been to Sheet Harbour and how many rural communities in HRM have you visited ?
Q7 - Do you believe HRM should increase/decrease funding to the school board ?
Ask your questions here http://fredconnorsforhrm.tumblr.com/ask dumbass.
Q1 - How many times have you been to a council meeting ?
Q2 - Have you ever read an HRM budget ?
Q3 - Do you support the continuation of the cap on assessments ?
Q4 - Do you think changes to the HRM charter are necessary ?
